Networking the factory

Westmont can supply networking capabilities in most of today's major industrial fieldbuses such as

  • ASi
  • Profibus
  • Fip
  • Ethernet
  • Interbus/s

plus most of the proprietry buses from Schneider,Omron,Rockwell, etc.

Networking the networks...

The problem with networks, of course, is that there can be so many of them. Nowdays networking the networks is a necessity, as managers drive towards an 'all information available anywhere' solution. Westmont have many years experience in multi-network multi-protocol systems.

Ethernet on the factory floor

With the arrival of the Internet, Ethernet and TCP/IP have become the de-facto standard for open intercommunication. It is dominant in the home and office, and it will soon dominate on the factory floor.

Access PLC's through Internet Explorer. Use browser technology to monitor your production efficiency, or fault-find a machine. The technology that enabled the internet can now release your factory floor data into your management network.

Westmont have embodied the possibilities of deploying Ethernet and TCP/IP in our OpenFactory concept.

Networks for Hazardous environments

We can supply networks for hazardous environments. For control systems, this has a number of advantages. Perhas the primary advantage is that the need for IS wiring, and IS barriers for I/O can be removed. Placing IS remote I/O inside the hazardous area, with an IS communications network back to the PLC, installed in a safe area creates a much simpler installation. Even better, when the time comes to expand or modify the system, it's usually just a matter of adding more remote I/O.

We can also offer Ex. operator interface MMI's to give full capabilites inside the hazardous area.
