IS--RPI for hazardous areas
IS-RPI can be installed in the field inside the zone 1, in USA: Div. 1, of the hazardous area in a junction box with protection class IP 54 or higher. Any other encapsulations are not needed. You only clip on up to eight terminal bases to a DIN rail. You mount the IS-RPI devices on the terminal bases. Up to 128 I/O channels can be installed at one gateway.
The gateways are linked to your control system via different explosion protected bus systems. P&F fieldbus isolators and segment couplers to install intrinsically safe bus systems. Fibre optic links are available, too. As a rule, a complete system can be supplied by two explosion protected power supply modules for 24 V DC or 85 to 264 V AC via intrinsically safe circuits. IS-RPI can be installed in harsh environment, because it is designed for high ambient temperatures up to 70 °C.
Safe area bus coupling is via PROFIBUS-DP, Modbus RTU, Modbus Plus or ControlNet · Modular system IS-RPI: ·Installation inside the hazardous area zone 1 (USA: Div. 1) · Field circuits suitable for the zones 1 and 0 of the hazardous area ·Bus coupling via PROFIBUS-DP, PROFIBUS-PA, Modbus RTU, ControlNet, fibre optic ·Fast multichannel system

RPI - Low Cost, high Reliability The Remote Process Interface is an economical remote I/O system for connecting measurement signals between hazardous and safe areas. RPI uses a single fieldbus line to connect conventional sensors and actuators to Your process control system. Installation inside the safe area or inside a zone 2 / div. 2 hazardous area, field signal circuits can be connected to instruments inside the safe area or to those inside the zones 0, 1 or 2 of the hazardous areas.Mounting simply by clipping the modules onto a DIN rail with Power Rail. Gateways for different fieldbus systems available, up to 500 I/O points per gateway. Easy assembly. Simply clip on the modules to the DIN Rail and they are supplied with 24V DC. Up to 125 devices to the gateway can be conneced. A range of comms gateways provide the link to connect to your control system. To install small systems you use inexpensive Baseline Gateways. But expansion is possible. 14,000 I/O channels with 85 gateway systems are in operation. Redundancy can be built at a number of levels, allowing redundancy in power supplies and communications.
